How I became a pirate

11/28/2012

We went to "How I Became a Pirate" today at the Arvada Center.  Grandma took all the Colorado Cousins and the Momma's to have a fun day out.  It was so much fun to see the kids enjoy it so much and just find humor in some of the cute moments of the show.

While I was there, I thought of our Madilyne.  The last time I was at the Arvada Center was with Torrey while I was pregnant with our precious girl.  We had won tickets to Legally Blonde at the Foster banquet in May.  It seemed really long to sit through, but that was just due to how uncomfortable I was.  I ended up sitting on the floor for most of it as it felt better.  I had asked Torrey if he thought people would look at me funny and he told me they probably would, but who cared.

The Arvada Center now holds memories of two of my birthed kids as well as my 4 special nephews.  It will forever be a place that I hold dear.

I love that memories don't have to be sad.  You can find the beauty in all moments.  You might have to look harder, but they are there if you are willing to look.

Yaya Orchard & Farm

kids picking apples together
Today Turner and I went to Yaya Orchard and Farm with Amy, Logan, Casey, Simon and Riley.

As all things seem to go with me, this wasn't quite right.  When I got there, she looked at me and said that she was only expecting 1 adult and 3 children.  That is odd as Neither Amy nor I would have had that combination even on our own.  I had told her there would be up to 8 people picking.  We ended up only being able to pick a bag a piece and when I say a piece that would be me and Amy and the bag was one of the smallest ones I have ever seen for one of the most exorbitant prices I have seen.  The experience, company and fun was worth it in the end, but we will look harder next year for a different experience.

Logan is feeding the chickens clover.
The kids were able to play around the farm and feed the animals.  It isn't highly commercialized and only has reservations only so as a parent you don't have to be worried you will lose your child.

I plan to make apple pie filling and can it as I already have made some applesauce and canned that.

I really enjoy these experiences and need to find more cultural experiences to do with Turner.  If anyone has suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them.

The donkey is biting my elbow in this very picture.  I was also nibbled on by
a horse.  He was trying to eat my shirt and pants.

Two farmers chatting about their day.  LOVE this picture
the wagon welcoming us upon arrival.  It was HARD to locate this place,
but once you found it, they had cute decorations.
This is the sign from the road.  No wonder it was hard to see.  AHH.  We both
passed the place about 3 times.  Turner and I stood at the road so Amy would
find it.

Our FAMOUS violinists

12/4/09

Logan and Casey performed for the Broomfield tree lighting and they made it on the cover of the Broomfield Enterprise.  A reporter can and interviewed Logan, but the poor man didn't have a chance as he didn't even get down on Logan's level to talk to him and there were WAY too many distractions for him.  You can tell the people that typically work with children, they are the ones that will get down to their level.

Nina, Please read me a story

12/4/09

Nina and her family came for a quick visit in November due to her father passing away.  It was a bitter-sweet visit, but I can tell you that I was THRILLED to see her.  I have missed my best friend so much that there just seems to be this hole in my heart.

Why does distance make things harder?  We talked almost every day and now it is only about once a month and I HATE it.  I am so thrilled for this opportunity for their family and am so proud of her and my brother and how well they are both doing, but couldn't they be closer or me richer so I can afford to call more?  :)

Grammy Mary and the Baby Boys

12/20/09

We went over to Grammy Mary's (Torrey's Mom) house to visit with Jeff (We haven't seen him since his son was in the hospital in September.) because we just heard he was moving to North Dakota the next day.

It was a nice visit for all.  Torrey and Jeff just chatted and I sat and talked with Mary and played with Turner.

Later in the night Tamarah(Torrey's oldest niece) brought her two boys and her sister over for Mary to watch while they went to a club for her birthday.

Mary wanted a picture of the boys and I suggested that she have her picture taken with them.

Turner's First Haircut

9/26/09
Turner's cousins stayed the night because we LOVE to have them and their mommy needed a break because her honey has been out of town for work for a while and she is WORN out.

While they were here, I gave all the boys a haircut as they were in need.  I got everyone's picture but Casey's.  He would not let me take one.

As you can see Turner's haircut started out okay, but it didn't end well.  He was so tired and ready for a nap which is why I started with him.  If it weren't for that, he did pretty good.  A little wiggly, but I didn't expect him not to be.

The hair is only some of what I cut off.  All the dark went away and we ended up with even more of a blondie.

Simon got a pretty close haircut and ended up looking way too big, but he sure looked handsome.

Logan is my goof call.  He does NOT like hair on him at all, so has to take off his shirt and sometimes even his pants and the entire time I cut his hair, he must have a little broom so he can sweep it off himself.  He would not hold still to get a really good picture, but this picture is totally him.

This is me cleaning up after all the hair was cut off and on the floor.  The only man in the house that didn't end up with a haircut that day that needed one was my hubby, and he still is needing one.  :)

Bike Rides and the Park

9/30/09

Turner and I really enjoy going for bike rides each week and stopping at the park to play a bit.  We haven't been able to do it in a while since I have been sick.  I really hope to pick it up again as we both like the time out and together.

Bring the Rain

BRING THE RAIN - MERCYME

We just saw an incredible concert at Faith Day at the Rockies and they played one of my favorite songs that just had me crying because of the stuff going on with Torrey's Family.

While I was worshiping My wonderful Savior I cried out and said to bring the rain if it brings Him glory. Well, I am trying to be ready but I must admit that my day today has been hard where I have had to take many moments of reflection with my Father. My circumstances will never change who I am in HIM. I want to be drawn closer during this time.

I came home from babysitting and shared with Torrey how God so loves to care for us in small details and since putting a scripture verse in my email signature, I have really seen some great things happen. We were able to get a few things we had been praying for because the freecycle people saw my verse in my signature.

Now that I have been home a bit, my heart is much heavier. I am just feeling overloaded with all the things that we need to take care of. I know that my Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills and will take care of me...I KNOW this, but I am having a hard time trusting this. Sitting in front of me are doctor's bills we still have to pay (all have been negotiated and being paid on so that is good) our water heater died last night...or started leaking, our dishwasher died today, I am working on estimates for a furnace that is 29 years old...on and on.

I told Torrey today that this is the time that either I believe what Jesus says or I don't. Why is it when you are have these things facing you does it feel like there is no way to get out. I told Torrey as well that I have seen God take care of us in the little things, so I know He can. The big things haven't been in our lives (well that isn't true even while I type this as we have Turner). So, I just needed to write this to help me remember that God is there and we are seeking him with all our heart and he promises to take care of us. We will have to figure out what to do and when. My hands might be really soft and clean for a while since a dishwasher is a complete luxury. I actually just told a friend the other day that I like to do dishes these days as I find it relaxing...I guess I will relax and spend time with Jesus.

Sorry that this has rambled all over the place, as you can see my head is swimming in details and trying to just ask God for wisdom and then to trust in what He will do in this situation.

Keep praying for Torrey and Sprouts. He called today and they are working to make decisions on managers this week and next and then will move on to the crew. We would love for Torrey to get a position as a manager in a department, but more than anything I just want him to have a new opportunity with a company that appears to really appreciate their staff.

Also, keep praying for the Myers family. Mary stood up to her son and told her she doesn't like how he is living his life and he pretty much said he wants nothing to do with her and that everyone has always favored Torrey....etc.

God is working in many places and I want to be found faithful...

oh and YEAH for Amy, she stood strong for her Jesus and shared her faith with a friend and we hope that she will be coming to church with us. She likes our family and thinks we are different, which is what provided Amy the opportunity to share why we are different.

enough of the ramble...thanks to those that made it to the end.

Prayer for our Family

Could you all be praying for our family right now...and by Our, I mean the Myers side.

I will try to make this a short story.

We got a call today that our Nephew Christopher was being flown to Saint Anthony's Central and was going in for brain surgery. We had heard he had been attacked on a walk.

We dropped off our little man and went down to pick up Torrey's mom and take her with us.

When we got there it was entertaining to say the least. PLEASE PLEASE be praying.

Christopher and Breeann had gone for a walk to 7-11 on Monday night at 11:30pm. When the passed a liquor store some adult man came out and suggested he was going to rape Breeann so Christopher defended his sister and the guy got upset with him and his LA shirt and ripped his shirt off of him and hit him in the head.

Christopher went to his mom's house (he has been staying with his Grandma due to his dad and step-mom getting a divorce currently). I guess he had headaches Tuesday and Wednesday and was taking every medication he could think of to help and kept blacking out.

His dad went to check on him today and found him unconscious. He took him to Saint Anthony's North and he stopped breathing. They put tubes in and took him by helicopter to Central. He went right into surgery. After surgery we found out that he had a skull fracture and a massive hematoma. The hematoma was so large and his brain so swollen that it caused his pupil to rupture. They are hopeful but still not certain if there is brain damage. They said he might regain use of his eye, but they might not. The next few days will reveal things.

While we were there people were pointing fingers all over the place and doing so in front of Breeann. This poor little girl saw the whole thing and I am sure is hurting and blaming herself and now she is listening to her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc plan and attack her parents. It was so upsetting. And then the step-mom who has raised Christopher since he was 4 or 5 couldn't even come to the hospital because her husband is with another lady. This lady was their loan officer that was trying to help them get a house for their family and instead put claims on Jeff.

anyway...all of this blew up as noone there is liking this new lady and Jeff thinks that I was looking at her evil (which I wasn't...just asking what we could do, she actually attacked me later with something I said).

to top it off, Jeff is also mad for something we did earlier this year to protect his children.

The family is at war and hurting and we know that it is Jesus trying to get their attention and their hearts. They have never liked me at all and that is hard. I don't like to be hated, but if God can use me to win them to Jesus, let them hate me.

Please pray for Christopher to heal both in his heart and his head. He is very receptive to things right now and asking for people to love him. Also pray for Breeann as she is hurting too and because hers is internal, people are not thinking of her, so help me to love on her. Also pray that we can be used to show them Jesus the perfect light and healer and lover of their soul.

What a night...I am worn out and yet invigorated at the same time and tomorrow looks to be exhausting as well so pray for strength for us.

sorry for the LONG, short story and the ramble.

Our Trip to Wisconsin Part 1 (May 2-5)

Torrey, Turner and I took a nice trip to Wisconsin the first of May. I got a ticket for me for only $5 so we just had to get one for Torrey and I found one at a great price, so we had a cheap vacation before be became too broke to consider such a thing...Actually we bought the tickets before I officially quit my job.

Here are some pictures from our time. Most of it we spent just chilling with Grandma. I love being in Wisconsin because I never feel in a hurry.

When we got there on Saturday, we drove to my Uncle Doug's and he had a nice meal for us. We sat and chatted for some time with him, Tegan and Mike.

On Sunday, we went to church at my friend Jodi's church and after church we had lunch together. Her whole family came to greet us and it was so much fun to reconnect. I have known them since I was born...or rather they have known me. :)

I also got to meet someone that my parents had in their youth group and used to babysit me. That was too crazy.

Here is my special little man and my wonderful grandma having a little snooze together. Turner really took to Grandma and Vice Versa. She sang so many songs to him and now I can't seem to remember which ones they were. I keep hoping I think of it as I have a craft idea for them.

On this day, Turner turned 27 weeks and we wondered around to different places of memories (Where I was born, Where I lived after I was born, Where my parents got married, Where they went on a date). We also visited a cheese house and I just had to get a picture of my little and big men wearing cheese heads.

Craft Ideas

I wanted to get these posted before Mother's Day and Father's day, but I failed...you might be able to do these another time with your kiddos.

MSBA Alumni

This year was a great year for a reunion. There were so many people there that it made it hard to visit with everyone, so I was thinking that it could be fun to just set up a recurring picnic that we all can count on. It will allow us to continue to grow the list of alumni contacts and families.

The Squires Park in Westminster is a great park with a beautiful shelter and is cheap to rent for the whole day. We would need someone that lived in Westminster to help us reserve it if we were to do that.

I was thinking that each year we could have a different class be "in charge" of the details of it.

As to funding it, we could put out a collection jar at the picnic that will help fund the next years picnic. It could, at the very minimum, pay for the park.

Here is a poll that I created to get an idea of the weekend that might sound the best for all. With School graduations, family vacations and schools starting up at all different times, I want to get a general consensus before I work to set up the remaining details of this.

If there were a yearly MSBA Picnic, which weekend would you want it to be every year?

Family workday at Joan's

3/28/09
A friend of mine had some projects that she needed help with as she suffers from terrible arthritis, so for our family workday, Torrey and I decided that we would go over there. Our prayer is that she will she Jesus in our lives and come to know Him personally. Please pray with us.
