Proud mommy moment

Proud mommy moment that I must share.  Get your tissues ready.

I had to take Turner to the doctor today as he hasn't been feeling great. While there, the PA hurt him. He was in tears. He told her, "it's okay, it's not your fault, I forgive you."

That isn't the best part...

We went to get his medication and when we got there, there was a matchbox display. He found a car he liked so I said I would reward him for his courage and kind heart.

We went shopping while his medication was being prepared. While I was paying, he took his pennies and shared his horse ride with a little girl.

Still not the good part...

After I paid, he asked for the car he was so excited to have. He walked up to the little girl, held the car in one hand as he rested the car on his arm (like a waiter would a bottle of wine) and said to the little girl, "I want you to have this."  And he walked off to join me.

He tells me as he is walking off that it was hard to give it away, but it made his heart happy though too. He then asked why I was sad. I was standing there WEEPING with pride at the giant, compassionate, sensitive, caring heart that Jesus has gifted my son with.

He has really been showing the love of Jesus this week. On November 15, 2014, we celebrated 1 year since Turner asked Jesus to be his Savior, and we can see the evidences clearly displayed frequently, but God has been using him a lot this week.

While he has been sick, he has made sure to walk Kristina and Austyn and even Toby to the door. He told me that even though it is cold out, that isn't going to stop him from being a gentleman. LOVE

Yesterday he told Torrey and I that Christmas is coming and he just had his birthday and has so many toys that after he opens his presents, he thinks he should give them all away to kids that need them even though he would like to have them. We told him to pray about it and if that is what he felt he should do, we would help him. He told us the best part if Christmas is Jesus and being with his family and friends.

How can you not love my boy?

19 January 2012

Dear Baby,

Today is Bently's first birthday.  We celebrated tonight as a family.  We had some cupcakes and had Bently open his gifts.  We got him a fun barn puzzle.  Bently has looked like a rooster since we got him because his hair would stand up just like one, so we decided to do his birthday in a farm theme for him.  We thought about a monkey too, because he is momma's little monkey.  The rooster won out because Georgie and Turner wanted that instead.

We also gave Bently his favorite snack foods.  We bought him the puffs in every flavor that they had at Walmart.

So glad that you were able to be part of it with us.  You were thought of and loved.

Happy Birthday, Bently.  We love you.

Love you little one,

Momma

Turner was working on painting his airplane and making Grandpa his birthday present.  He sticks his tongue out when he is working just like his Great Grandma.

Turner and the Potty

It has been so long since I have posted.  So many other things have my attention these days that sitting here for fun doesn't seem to happen.  It is always some kind of work on this computer these days.

I wanted to give an update though...Turner David is getting so big and saying so many words.  I love the stage he is in yet hate it some days too.  He is such a cute boy.  He has started to be a snuggler with Momma again, which I of course love.

Every day I try to log his new words, and that is hard because there are so many.

We have endeavored on the potty training and he is doing well, as long as he has no pants on.  We can't get to the number 2, but it will in time.  He will run to his potty on his own and when he goes 1 he gets 2 m&m's (he calls them elmos).

Turner is almost 2

Turner enjoying his first
trip to Lakeside.
I cannot believe how fast 2 years has gone.  My little baby is so much a toddler now and it has been such a joy to watch him learn.  Every day is a huge learning experience for him and me.  I miss the baby stage where I got to cuddle him as much as I liked, but it is also fun to be at this stage.  I have to really appreciate the cuddling moments as they are few and far between.  If he wakes up in the middle of the night, I like to grab him out of bed and just rock him.

I think that Turner is one of the most gifted little boys ever.  I am sure it is because he is mine, but he is just so darn cute and SMART.

Turner helping momma bake
for the first time.  Didn't turn
out great, but tasted okay.
He has really gotten into books the last month.  He will sit and read and re-read books for ours.  It is fun to just have him sit on my lap and look with me.  Sometimes he doesn't want to read as much as point out things for me to tell him what they are.  He has recently taken to pretending everything is biting him from within the pages.  I started that once and he has become quite dramatic about it now.

Turner also likes to hear stories about himself as well as point out pictures all around the house for me to tell them who they are.  I would love more pictures of all of you just to put in a book for him as he LOVES to look at them and hear about the people in the pictures.

Turner has also really been taking to using his sign-language more and more.  I have been doing it with him since he was little, but he didn't do much with it until now.  I have started to see the little guy that I watch each week starting to mimic it as well.

Turner's first time on roller blades
This little boy is also quite athletic from what I can tell so far.  He is great at throwing a ball and he just tried out roller blading the other day and did so well with that.  Daddy is excited for more of that to come as he likes that type of thing.

We have been working on transitioning our little guy to a big boy bed.  That has been hard for me as he wakes up frequently and comes out.  I like to see his cute face show up, but that cute face soon dissipates when he gets to where that sleep was not enough.

Turner is starting to show a real interest in the potty.  He has gone tinkle a few times.  He will tell me when he is Pooh-pooh and will often go to the bathroom and close the door when he needs to do the job, but we can't seem to do that on the potty yet.

I love the learning and hope to post more frequently when I can remember...I long for a laptop so this job can be done more conveniently...I keep hoping.

5/9/2010
Mother's day we spent at my parents home.  We also celebrated Dad and Jason's birthday.

While we were there, Logan gave Turner a whistle and Turner ran around making the whistle type noise with his mouth.  He did finally figure out how to blow it while we were there.  Mom thought it was so cute that she plans to get him a whistle.  OH GOODIE.  :)

Will you wait on me please?

1/15/10
Turner was having a good day, and it is a good thing he is so cute.  He was just sitting in his chair reading, and he would drop his book and point and look at me with this cute smile.  He wanted me to get his cup.  Then he smiled and pointed again; this time he wanted his snack.  Then he pointed again, and he wanted another book.

I love this little boy so much.  He has his days, for certain, but overall, he is such a good little one.

Momma's Prince Charming

1/12/10

My cousin sent Turner a gift card for his birthday and I found this shirt as well as several other things on clearance (I LOVE clearance).

Turner LOVES his rocking chair that he got from Grandpa and Grandma Larson.  He also likes any books that he can feel.  This one he got from Grandpa and Grandma Sonne.

He had really enjoyed trying to climb into his chair on his own.  He can get out better than he can get in.

Turner's Piano Concert

1/15/10

Turner just loves music and we have been playing the piano together. I am honestly not sure which of us sounds better, but I know for certain that Turner is the cutest piano player I have ever seen.

Enjoy his show.  (He is actually wearing his Rock Band t-shirt too)

Nina, Please read me a story

12/4/09

Nina and her family came for a quick visit in November due to her father passing away.  It was a bitter-sweet visit, but I can tell you that I was THRILLED to see her.  I have missed my best friend so much that there just seems to be this hole in my heart.

Why does distance make things harder?  We talked almost every day and now it is only about once a month and I HATE it.  I am so thrilled for this opportunity for their family and am so proud of her and my brother and how well they are both doing, but couldn't they be closer or me richer so I can afford to call more?  :)

Grammy Mary and the Baby Boys

12/20/09

We went over to Grammy Mary's (Torrey's Mom) house to visit with Jeff (We haven't seen him since his son was in the hospital in September.) because we just heard he was moving to North Dakota the next day.

It was a nice visit for all.  Torrey and Jeff just chatted and I sat and talked with Mary and played with Turner.

Later in the night Tamarah(Torrey's oldest niece) brought her two boys and her sister over for Mary to watch while they went to a club for her birthday.

Mary wanted a picture of the boys and I suggested that she have her picture taken with them.
