Hebrews 10:23-25
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
My son has requested a toothless birthday party for his 6th birthday. His birthday is the end of October so it makes it hard for outside parties. We have tried for outside the last 3 years and have had interesting weather, so this year we decided for indoors and as it would be, this Saturday is to be gorgeous.
Anyway, all that to say that this year we booked with an arts and crafts store and after booking they tell us we are responsible for the craft.
I have decided to share it with the world in case anyone else needs an idea.
What you need:
Wooden spoon
Wooden craft spoon
Green paint
Black paint
Paint brushes
Glue (I used hot glue guns)
Scissor
Black felt
Red felt
Black pipe cleaner
Magic marker
Patterns - (you can make your own or download one from Bug, Boo and Bean
Start by painting the two spoons black and set aside to dry.
Cut pipe cleaner in half and cut, and then fold in half. These will become the legs.
Cut out the patterns. Cut the mouth, ears, wings, and tail from the black. Cut the tongue and wing from the red.
Once the spoons are dry, glue the craft spoon to the back of the wooden spoon.
Next, glue the legs on and Then glue on the wings over the top of the front legs.
Glue the black and red tail pieces onto the tail.
Glue the mouth and tongue on.
Glue the ears on.
Last paint the green and black eyes on and let it dry.
We had a very nice day with my family for Thanksgiving. We had way more food than was necessary, as is typical, but had a few new things that we did this year that was lots of fun.
Casey asked grandma if people could go around and say what they were thankful for. I had wanted to do that as well and had made up something so we could write them out and create a gratitude journal to look back on as a family, but I of course forgot them...I am thankful that Casey thought to ask. It was so cute to hear what each person was thankful for. I am going to try to remember them for you:
Casey - (drawing a blank...need help family that reads this)
Simon - (drawing a blank...need help family that reads this)
Jason - That he didn't get hurt in the turkey bowl
Riley - (drawing a blank...need help family that reads this)
Amy - watching the leaves dance in the street and watching the Trees dance this morning from my window.
Logan - For papa's wisdom that he will share with him when he asks, Torrey is funny, Turner makes him smile, Nette, as the pastor said is full of faith, Grandma is sweet and makes good food (so does Nette and mommy), Casey makes me laugh, Simon's dark eyes get him out of trouble, daddy is fun and likes to play with us, Riley makes me smile, Mommy is nice and sweet. (we all started crying on his)
Papa - For family
Torrey - for his family and not getting hurt in the turkey bowl
Turner - for helicopters
Me - For Jesus and how because of Him we can have hope and see our our babies again.
Vickie - For salvation and for family that gets along.
After we were done going around the table and crying together for the kind words and for those we are missing this thanksgiving for multiple reason, we moved to the next thing.
Torrey and I had decided that we want to make sure to "include" Madilyne and Jordan at holidays and had talked about doing candles on the table (which I still like, but we didn't do this time), but we settled on buying balloons to release as a family, so this time I bought a balloon for all there were to be present (on deflated before the release however). Turner loves to let them go, so figured that the kids would all like it as well. I think the adults could have enjoyed it, but I think we try to be too adult and have a brave face...so we enjoyed it because of the kids...little steps.
Logan, when he heard we were going to release balloons to Madilyne and Jordan decided he was going to send up a note to them. I love his heart so very much. This little boy loves Jesus and will do his best to reach the world if we allow him the chance.
Logan was a little disappointed when he released his balloon as it got caught in the tree. He and papa both had theirs get stuck. Logan wanted to make sure the girls got their note. Amy told him that it was okay, because maybe the people that got the balloon in their tree needed to hear the name of Jesus. Papa went out later and was able to come back and report that the balloon had gotten free. Logan was so happy to hear that.
What a great day it was talking, playing games, crying and just being together. I know it was bittersweet for me. I would have loved to have been holding my precious little girl in my arms and nurturing her and watching her laugh and smile, but I know that she was doing that in heaven...that is the place that all those things are PERFECTLY done.
Madilyne & Jordan, your family loves and misses you so.
Until we see you again,
We love you from Earth to Heaven, FOREVER.

5/9/2010
Mother's day we spent at my parents home. We also celebrated Dad and Jason's birthday.
While we were there, Logan gave Turner a whistle and Turner ran around making the whistle type noise with his mouth. He did finally figure out how to blow it while we were there. Mom thought it was so cute that she plans to get him a whistle. OH GOODIE. :)
Turner has done really well with the Christmas tree. I have heard horror stories about Christmas trees and toddlers so wasn't sure what to expect out of my curious man.
He has pretty much just sat and looked at the links twinkle and say "ohhh". That is until...
...He came crawling into the kitchen with two candy canes. I had begun to wonder what he was up to as it got very quiet in the house.
I went to check out the tree and what else he had done, and all he had was some of the garland beads piled up on the floor. Not too bad. He really hasn't done anything else since then. He does try for the candy canes from time to time, but that is because momma let him taste one and he liked it.
This is our tree this year. It is the theme that I call "Winter Wonderland", but we incorporated some of the "It's the Reason" theme too. I believe that I will be incorporating all the trees together as it is getting harder to not put certain ornaments up. I ended up with an "I told you so" from my mom for that statement.
I still have enjoyed having different themed trees and if I had a larger home, I would set up more trees. I guess I will find someone that needs ornaments and get them to a good home.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL...Remember the REAL reason we celebrate.
10/31/09 We had Turner's birthday party on the 31st for a few reasons... 1 - His grandparents, Aunt Amy and the Walker cousins were in Georgia visiting my brother's family until the 28th 2 - His Uncle Jason was in California until the 30th 3 - We brought him home from the hospital on the 31st so thought it would be fun.
There are lots of pictures and I didn't take them this time. I took advice from my sister and got out from behind the camera and enjoyed the festivities and asked HER to take some for me. She and Jason helped me out with capturing the moment and I got to actually see the moment happen. I even stayed pretty calm during the hosting part.
Here are a few of the favorite pictures:
Turner sitting at his birthday bash spread of food. The two little cakes up front were his...it was a BUG theme as we have called him our Love Bug or Doodle Bug.
One of his cakes, Ants on a log, and Cucumber/Carrot Caterpillar
Snails (Tortilla Roll ups), Ladybugs (tomato, olive, cream cheese crackers)
Another cake and Celery grasshopper.
2 more cakes
A pineapple Bee
Turner with his cousin Casey
Singing Happy Birthday - Casey is there to help with the candles
Cousin Logan came to help too - he is sporting the Happy Birthday headband I made for the kids.
Turner went for the Licorice antennea
Turner mad because momma took the licorice
Started eating the cake (my new "mantle" in the background. I will post pictures of that change later)
This is as messy as he got. He didn't get into the cake like I thought he would...if it were ice cream, that would have been a different story.
