Twig Tree Ornaments

Twig Tree Ornaments
Every year I like to make a Christmas ornament. This year I thought I would include something that would require my son to learn to tie a knot. We have been working on tying a shoe, so lets do some more tying for Christmas.
This was a cheap and easy craft to do and turns out oh so cute. We made a larger one to hang on our front door.
The original idea I found on pinterest. You can link up to their original blog at Fire Flies and Mud Pies.
    SUPPLIES

  1. Sticks (we wandered around our yard and grabbed various sizes)
  2. Ribbon scraps (I used greens, reds and whites)
  3. Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Tie the scraps of ribbon down the stick.
  2. trim the pieces so the length ascends in size down the stick
  3. tie a piece of ribbon to the top to hang as an ornament

Snowman Luminaries

DIY Snowman Milk Jugs Idea

Changed to be Snowman Luminaries

I changed it up a bit from what the above link suggested.  Here is what I did to make my luminaries.

This is a great project to do with your older kiddo if you use a glue gun.  You can try E6000 glue to be able to do it with some younger kids.

Supplies needed for the Luminaries
  1. Milk Jug(s)
  2. Black and various color Pom poms
  3. Red & White Pipe Cleaners
  4. Orange and Black Felt
  5. String of lights
  6. Glue Gun or other glue
  7. Rock(s) if placing outside

Directions for Luminaries
  1. Cut out eyes from black felt
  2. cut out nose from orange felt
  3. Twist one white and red pipe cleaner together
  4. Glue eyes, nose and black pom pom mouth on
  5. Glue the pipe cleaner from one side of the head to the other and place desired pom pom on either side
  6. Cut a hole in the back of the jug to insert a rock and some white lights
  7. put it inside or out for a lovely display

For the original craft from the link above, you will need:

Step 1: From black cardstock, CUT eyes and mouth SHAPES; eyes should be larger than mouth pieces.
Step 2: From orange cardstock, cut triangles for nose.
Step 3: Glue pieces to CLEAN milk jug.
Step 4: Glue chenille stems to both SIDES of milk carton creating an arch above eyes.
Step 5: Glue pom-poms, FEATHERS, jingle bells, etc. on the end of each chenille stem to create earmuffs.

Toothless birthday party

My son has requested a toothless birthday party for his 6th birthday. His birthday is the end of October so it makes it hard for outside parties. We have tried for outside the last 3 years and have had interesting weather, so this year we decided for indoors and as it would be, this Saturday is to be gorgeous.

Anyway, all that to say that this year we booked with an arts and crafts store and after booking they tell us we are responsible for the craft.

I have decided to share it with the world in case anyone else needs an idea.

What you need:
Wooden spoon
Wooden craft spoon
Green paint
Black paint
Paint brushes
Glue (I used hot glue guns)
Scissor
Black felt
Red felt
Black pipe cleaner
Magic marker
Patterns - (you can make your own or download one from Bug, Boo and Bean

Start by painting the two spoons black and set aside to dry.

Cut pipe cleaner in half and cut, and then fold in half. These will become the legs.

Cut out the patterns. Cut the mouth, ears, wings, and tail from the black. Cut the tongue and wing from the red.

Once the spoons are dry, glue the craft spoon to the back of the wooden spoon.

Next, glue the legs on and Then glue on the wings over the top of the front legs.

Glue the black and red tail pieces onto the tail.

Glue the mouth and tongue on.

Glue the ears on.

Last paint the green and black eyes on and let it dry.

You are done.
