Are you loosing control?

There are names for every kind of fear. Pretty much anything you can think of has a name for the fear. We have the fear of heights (Acrophobia), fear of chickens (Alektorophobia), fear of staying single (Anuptaphobia), fear of snakes (Ophidiophobia), and the list goes on and on.

But the ultimate question is what do you fear and has your fear taken such a hold that you no longer trust God in the midst of your fear?

If you think about fear, isn't it that you are afraid of loosing control of something you hold dear? It could be anywhere from safety of your family to walking down the street uninterrupted.

Do you desire so much control that you are limiting God from directing your steps?

It has been stated that fear is:

F - alse
E - vidences
A - ppearing
R - eal

Worry is the neighbor to fear. Something that has us so consumed, will cause us to worry about it as we approach life. Say for instance you fear snakes. Most of us will encounter at least a garter snake sometime in our life, so for someone that fears snakes, they will worry about when that time will come.

Doesn't God tell us not to worry about tomorrow? We can do nothing to change what tomorrow will be. It isn't here yet. We have to live in today with complete assurance that God will take care of us as He promised to do. When we live in fear, we are clinging to the fear more than clinging to the promises of God and thus we are making Him out to be a liar. Do you want to have that kind of power over your God? Do you want to look at God and say, "I know you said you would take care of me, but I don't believe you?" I know that isn't something that I want to do.

Fears are part of this world because it is fallen and this isn't our home. We need to live like it isn't our home. Live for Heaven.

Give your fears and worries over to God every moment of every day. Draw strength from His promises and know He will never leave you or forsake you.

Did you know that perfect love drives out fear (John 4:18)?

Find a way each day to take a step of faith toward God and away from your fears and worries. Don't let them control your life. God is better at directing you as He desires only your best.
