Are you used by God or by men?

What talents do you posses? Are you a writer, an artist, a nurse, an administrator?

We all have great talents and gifts that we can use in our life. God calls us to use the giftings (I Corinthians 12) to glorify Him. Do you use them in this fashion?

If you are not using your gifts for God, the world is happy to use them. The great thing about being used by God is that there is an eternal purpose for it whereas being used by men is just temporary and holds no significant fulfillment to you.

Most often when we are used by men, we are left feeling empty and incomplete. We do not have the joy that God desires to give us because we are doing it not to please Him but to please others.

A good litmus test is when you are done serving someone, are you on the verge of feeling bitter because they didn't recognize you as you desired? If that is how you are feeling, you were seeking to gain their approval and thus being used by men. If you walk away with a sense of peace, then you are allowing yourself to be used by God to bless others.

God uses us everyday to fulfill His will in the World. Are you willing to be fully used by Him or are you seeking the approval of man?

As you go through your week, ask yourself each day what you feel God is calling you to do today. How can He use you to touch the life of another without looking for their approval? Then you need to be ready and willing to be obedient and step out.

Philippians 2:13
For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose
