Technical Leader – Savannah, GA Roofing Plant

Job Details:

The Savannah roofing facility has a great opportunity for a Technical Leader. The Technical Leader will report directly to the Site Leader and will be responsible for applying analytical solutions, using Lean/6 Sigma methodologies, to chronic and/or complex problems within plant or division operations. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and execution of plant process improvement strategies. As a member of the plant natural leadership team (NLT), the incumbent is responsible for achieving plant goals as set forth by OC leadership and the Plant Leader in Safety, Environmental Assurance, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Cost. The Technical Leader will be responsible for leading and developing 6 direct reports.

As an individual contributor to that end, this role is to create and implement strategic plans for reducing process variation and improving product consistency while improving product costs to world-class performance levels. Key measures include COPQ, KPI' s of critical processes, and productivity improvement year over year.

Key Responsibilities are as follows:

(li)Provide the leadership, analysis, planning and implementation for permanent
solutions to issues that prevent optimum performance of processes and equipment on the floor.
  • Lead projects and project teams in the investigation, problem analysis, alternative evaluations and implementation of permanent solutions to chronic issues using Lean/Six Sigma problem solving, engineering principles and data based techniques, including use of Integrated Manufacturing tools.
  • Responsible for operation of the quality control lab and insuring Division testing protocols are followed. Primary plant contact for quality complaints and the lead for resolution.
  • Document solutions, provide training for correction and/or implementation of solutions, develop, update, train and maintain plant SOP's and put follow-on procedures and audit routines in place to assure permanency of solutions.
  • Plant champion, expert and lead for implementing and optimizing Advanced Process Control models for improved process capability.
  • Function as the acknowledged process and technical expert within the plant. Provide counseling and coaching to manufacturing engineers, production management and all other manufacturing support personnel. Mentor Six Sigma Green Belts.
  • Bring World Class/Best In Class techniques, procedures, processes and know-how into plant operations: equipment, facilities, production processes and operator skill technical improvement
  • Leverage technical solutions across the division and communicate/share plant technical solutions division-wide. Participate in solving division technical issues.
  • Be a member of ASQC and/or other technical professional organizations in order to stay abreast of functional/professional developments.

  • Education Requirements
    BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, with a working knowledge of engineering and statistical principles.

    Additional Requirements
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of direct experience in an Electrical/Chemical/Mechanical or Process Engineering role
  • 5%-10% travel is required

    Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.
